Mr. Patrice NIYONGABO is the current Head the OACPS Centre for South-South and Triangular Cooperation, being the first Director of this new OACPS institution since its operationalization in September 2020.  

Mr. Niyongabo brought onboard a wealth of more than 20 years’ experience in Corporate and Institutional management, Projects & Program development, and implementation; strategic planning, and partnership building.

Before joining the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States, he served as Deputy Executive Secretary of the East African Community (EAC) -Lake Victoria Basin Commission, where he was deeply involved in policy and strategic dialogues on regional integration, as well as overseeing implementation of several transboundary Projects and Programs. In his position, represented his institution in several high-level policies, strategic and partnership dialogues with policymakers, international organization, and development partners.  

Mr. Niyongabo also has a great experience and understanding of private sector development, having worked at different senior positions with international consulting industry in Africa, Europe and North America (Canada). A graduate from the Economics School of Louvain-Belgium, Mr. Niyongabo speaks fluently English and French languages, with a working level in Spanish.
